1. Why should I choose
UIBE and its schools and departments?
One reason of course, is
employment. UIBE, and its schools and departments, SITE (School
of International Trade and Economics), SIE (School
of International Education), School
of Business, for example, help international
students with various internship and placement
opportunities, especially the intensive summer
internships which generate lots of job placement
opportunities.
Another reason which may
be even more important to you is the Chinese
economy is exciting. After all, what is a
job if you do not enjoy it? How interesting
can it be if it doesn't challenge you to the
utmost of your abilities? In a few years,
China has gone from a closed society to a
major player in a globalized world. China

2. What are the special
features?
The programs are all accredited by the State
Ministry of Education.
- All programs are in English
All International Undergraduate
and Graduate Programs are offered entirely
in English. Professors, faculty members and
administrators communicate entirely in English,
and all course materials, including books
and brochures, are provided in the English
language.
- Free Field Trips
SITE, SIE both
offer FREE field trips to exciting destinations
like China’s Development Zones,Multinational
Enterprises, and popular sightseeing spots
(including the Great Wall and others). Field
trips give students a clearer idea about
how China has been changing economically
and culturally.
- Internship Placements
Internship placements are
available to degree-seeking students registered
at the School of International Trade and
Economics (SITE)
in any of the International Graduate Programs.
The placements provide students with direct
work experience in various areas of the private
sector and help to develop personal contacts
and networks to assist with future career
prospects. This Internship Placement is a
competitive program, and is entirely voluntary
in that participating students receive
no financial remuneration.
- Practicum (6 credits):
Three-month intensive Practicum
provides practical on-the-job professional
experience that will help the International
Undergraduates students in the competitive
job markets after graduation.
- Exchange Program:
UIBE, and its schools and
departments, has international exchange programs
with universities in the USA, Canada, Japan,
Europe and many other countries. You may
be able to participate in one of our international
exchange programs by contacting the Office
of International Students and Scholars, Boxue
Building#1109 at SITE.
- Research Seminar
I & II:
The faculty of UIBE, and
its schools and departments, believes that
a good education requires familiarity with
a range of disciplinary in your major field
of study. To ensure that, International Undergraduate
students are required to take Research Seminars
I & II. |

3. How to apply? Understanding
the process.
First of all it's
important to understand that the
School of International Education, (SIE),
is also responsible for registering all
international students, whether degree,
non-degree, or short-term training, in
other words SIE acts not only as a school,
offering courses to international students,
but also as an admissions and administrative
office. Whereas the International
Relations Department is responsible
for managing student exchange programs
with other universities.

5. When is the deadlines?
Application Deadline
is June 30.
However, the faculty may
consider Master degree applicants to commence
in the spring session (deadline is October

6. What to do after
admitted?
If applicants receive an Offer
of Admission and wish to accept, applicants
need to send a CN¥5000 non-refundable deposit.
A CN¥5000 non-refundable deposit is required
upon acceptance of the offer of admission
to the International Undergraduate and Graduate
Programs. This deposit will be applied to
the first term program fee. |

7. Are scholarships
available?
Chinese Government
Scholarships
The Ministry of Education
of China provides scholarships for international
students. And International Graduate program
at the School of International Trade and
Economics is one of programs for which the
Chinese Government Scholarship is available.
The Department of International Cooperation
and Exchange of Ministry of Education of
China takes charge of the office approval
of the scholarships. Please consult the website
at www.csc.edu.cn for
further information.
BEIJING Scholarships
It is a scholarship only
for new international graduate students who
like to study in Beijing. The scholarship
provides 50% of the tuition, and the deadline
is January 15.

SITE Scholarships
-International Undergraduate
Programs:
The SITE scholarship is
awarded annually to two outstanding students
enrolled in the International Undergraduate
Program at SITE who have shown excellence
in the study.
-International Graduate
Programs:
The SITE scholarship is
awarded biannually to two outstanding students
enrolled in the International Graduate Programs
at SITE who have shown excellence in the
study of Applied Economics, International
Business or International Development.

9. How much is the
application fee?

Not required. However, it will

provide internship or field trip for students?
Yes. SITE provides internships
and field trips in joint ventures, enterprises
or rural areas as a course requirement. Especially
Graduate program offers the INTENSIVE Internships
in summer session about 3 months. 30% of
full-time students are taking advantage of
the internship programs and 100% of internship
students got a job offer from the internship
companies. |

12. Can I work while
studying at UIBE?
According to the government
regulations, international students cannot
work during their studies. However, Teaching
Assistant (T.A.) or internships are sometimes
allowed. Jobs of teaching English are particularly
easy for native English speakers to find. |

13. Do I have to live
on campus?
Off-campus housing is available but you
must make sure that any apartment you rent
is a legal residence for foreigners.

14. Can I receive academic
credits from the International Programs
offered by SITE?
UIBE offers academic credits
for all courses of the International programs.
After you have completed all the coursework
as required, we will assist you in obtaining
any information or documentation required
by your home university. Of course the final
decision to offer academic credits is up
to your home university, so we recommend
that you discuss your study plan with your
university before your studies at UIBE. |

15. What do I need
to bring to Beijing?
If you are staying in the
student dormitory, bedding, telephone and
television are all provided. A computer room
is located on the first floor of the dormitory
for students. Smaller items, furniture, clothing
and cleaning supplies can all be bought quite
cheaply on and out of campus. We suggest
you bring some medication from home in sufficient
quantities for cases of emergency. The electricity
voltage in Beijing is 220, so you may need
to bring an adapter to use with any electrical
appliances brought from home. |

16. Is access to the
Internet available at UIBE?
The on-campus dorm provides
in each room a telephone and access to the
UIBE Internet network. You can also find
a local ISP and use a modem to connect to
the Internet. In addition, UIBE has several
computer rooms in which you can go on-line. |

|
|
17. What is a conditional
offer?
A conditional offer means
that there are conditions an applicant must
satisfy in order to receive final admission
(i.e. maintain your offer) If applicants
have received a conditional offer, this will
be noted in the details on the form entitled
“Offer of Admission” |

18. How much is Tuition
Fee?
University reserves a left
to change tuition fees, late registration
fees and refund polices without notice. Tuition
fees are usually reviewed in the spring of
each year. For the incoming degree students
from spring 2007, fees are charged on a credit
basis.

19. How to pay Tuition
Fees?
Please ensure you have sufficient
funds in your bank account to cover your
tuition fees and have allowed enough times
to allow for processing to avoid late charges
if wiring tuition and fees. Students will
pay for service charges at the bank. Payments
not received, processed, and posted to students’
account by the appropriate scheduled deadlines
will be considered late and be susceptible
to a late penalty.
NOTE: Be
sure to include your name, and the detail
of what the payments is for (e.g. AE tuition,
IB tuition, Application fee, Residence,

22, Residence on Campus?
A variety of housing is
available on the Campus. And a refundable
deposit of US$200 or RMB2000 is required
at the check-in.
The Residence Service Desk
is located on the lobby of Huibin Building.

HUIBIN House is
a six-floor building providing 198 standard
rooms and 10 spacious suites. The first and
second floors are house offices and classrooms
while the upper four floors are designed
as a dormitory to accommodate foreign students
on campus.
All the standard rooms
and suites are equipped with fine furniture
and modern facilities, including telephones,
television sets, air conditioning and private
baths. For your convenience, the House has
set up a business service office, a recreation
hall, an exercise room, a coffee shop, a
laundry and a number of public kitchens on
different floors. At present the long-term
student price is RMB 90/day for double occupancy
in a standard room and RMB 150/day for a

HUIDE Apartment has
108 apartments. Each apartment has a spacious

Newly Completed
Dorms: another choice
of residence on campus
for your reference
· 90 rooms totally, on
the east of #5 Building, have been completed
in February of 2006 and put into use this
semester as our international students’ dorms.
· 16 square meter room
and each floor owns a public toilet and a
bathroom with shower.
· All of the dorms are
equipped with furniture, air-conditioner,
television and telephone as well as high
speed internet access.
· RMB 60 a day a dorm,
either you live in a single room or share
with a roommate equals RMB 30 per day a bed).
· 50 degree of power will
be free for a dorm a month.
