The School of International Education offers courses in Chinese at different levels, with its professional teams and good facilities, to foreign students, scholars, and business people who choose Chinese as their medium to promote trade relations and cultural exchanges between China and their home countries. It has become the best choice for the afore-said students. At present, there are about 30 different classes to cater to the needs of students at different levels.

 

Programs Offered

1. Elementary Chinese

This program is divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels with each level further divided into 6-12 classes of 8-15 students each to allow learners at a similar Chinese level to be grouped together. The curriculum focuses on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills as well as modern grammar and essay writing. The program normally takes 2-3 semesters to complete and at the end of the program starters would reach a fairly high level Chinese proficiency.

 

2. Business Chinese

The business Chinese program is divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels with each level further divided into 2-4 classes of 8-15 students each  at a similar Chinese level. Students should already have a firm grasp of basic Chinese before starting the business Chinese program. The curriculum aims at improving students' spoken and listening proficiency in business Chinese, and teaching business writing and newspaper reading. The program normally takes 2-3 semesters to complete and at the end of the program students would be able to attain a fairly high level Chinese proficiency as is used in business situations.

 

Academic Calendar

Spring semester: March 1 - July 10

Fall semester: September 1 - January 10

 

Tuition and Fees

Tuition for the first semester is RMB 9900 and RMB 9100 for each subsequent semester. The tuition should be paid in full on registration. In addition, the application fee of RMB 660 is  required for the first semester.

 

Examinations and Certification

Students who have completed all the courses and passed all the course examinations will be granted a certificate of completion.
