Bachelor's Degree Program in Chinese Language and Literature

(Business Chinese)


The University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) is a university under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education. It is the first institution of higher learning in China that offers comprehensive disciplines of study in the field of international business and economics. Many of our graduates hold important positions in government agencies, large enterprises and commercial offices of Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, playing an active role in promoting business and economic cooperation between China and other parts of the world. At the same time, UIBE is taking the lead in international education programs and Chinese language teaching for foreign students. In particular, our Business Chinese program has won extremely warm reception from international students.
 

With its accession to the WTO, China’s reform and opening up has entered a new stage, with its economic, trade and cultural relations with the rest of the world greatly expanded. In order to meet the needs of international students and to bring into full play the comparative advantage in our specialized disciplines of study, UIBE decides to offer a Bachelor’s Degree Program in Business Chinese as from 2003, with a view to fostering the development of international talents who have compound expertise in Chinese culture, economy, trade, law and management. Candidates can obtain a bachelor’s degree after they have successfully fulfilled the four-year curriculum.


Application Requirements
1. High school graduate
2. Proficiency in Chinese: equivalent to Elementary Level C or higher in Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK)
3. Good health
 

Academic Calendar
First semester: September — January
Second semester: March — July
 

Entrance Examinations
The applicants who hold the certificate of the Elementary Level C or higher in HSK would be accepted without taking the entrance examinations.
 

Applicants who do not have the certificate of the Elementary Level C in HSK have to pass the following examinations.
1. Chinese Language (written)
2. Interview


Test time and place: Second Thursday and Friday of June each year at UIBE
 

Tuition and Fees
1. Application Fee: RMB 660
2. Tuition Fee: RMB 23200 per year
    Tuition must be paid in full at registration for the fist academic year and then be paid semester by semester.
 

Application Period
April 1 to May 31 each year
 

Documents for Application
Documents can be prepared in either Chinese or English
1. Completed UIBE Application Form
2. A copy of applicant’s high school diploma and transcripts
3. Letter of guardianship and a copy of guardian’s passport or ID
4. A copy of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) results (Elementary Level C or higher)
5. A copy of passport or other identification
6. Two passport photos
 

Admission
1. Those who hold the certificate of the Elementary Level C or higher in HSK would be admitted by the School of

    International Education after examining their application documents.
2. Those who have passed the entrance examinations will receive from UIBE an official notice of acceptance within two

    weeks after the tests.
3. To secure their place, applicants admitted must remit a non-refundable tuition deposit of RMB 4100.
