3. For those students who have an IELTS score of 6.0, TOEFL 550 (paper based), they must participate in the 4-week English Language & Welcome Course and the University of Paisley will not charge tuition fees for this course.
4. For those students who have an IELTS score 5.5, TOEFL 525 they must attend and successfully complete the University's 4-week English Language and Welcome Course and there will be no charge for tuition fees. Students will be tested at the end of the 4-week programme in order to assess their suitability for entry to degree programmes. Failure to satisfactorily complete this programme will result in the student being made an unconditional offer for entry to the English Language Foundation Course for one session prior to commencing degree studies.
5. For the students who have an IELTS score 5.0 or TOEFL 500, they will be offered a place on an 8-week summer English Language course and Welcome Programme and receive a 50% discount on the tuition fee. Students will be tested at the end of the 8-week programme in order to assess their suitability for entry to degree programmes. Failure to satisfactorily complete this programme will result in the student being made an unconditional offer for entry to the English Language Foundation Course for one academic session prior to commencing degree studies.

Following successful completion of this course over 36 weeks (one academic session), these students will be entitled to progress to the relevant degree course the following session.
7. Graduates of a Chinese university may be offered admission to relevant Postgraduate Diploma / Masters Courses, subject to appropriate English language entrance requirements.

Awards available at the University of Paisley

Financial Arrangements for session 2005/2006
1. The University of Paisley cannot assist students with the cost of fees or maintenance; the responsibility for these aspects rests firmly with individual students.
2. Tuition Fees for the session 2005/2006. Non-lab based courses such as business: £7000; lab-based courses science and engineering: £7900. Students will pay 95% of the UoP's full overseas fee for the relevant course if paid one month in advance of the start of the semester. If a student does not pay in full by this date, they must pay 100% of the fee. Tuition fees are determined annually.
3. Accommodation will be guaranteed in the University's self-catering halls of residence for the duration of the academic year (36 weeks). [Name of the Chinese university] students will receive a bursary of £1000 towards the costs of accommodation. The annual accommodation charge for 2005/06 will be approximately £1800*, leaving a total payable for students of approximately £800*.
4. There will be no tuition fees for the four-week course and students will only have to pay for accommodation in the halls of residence at a cost of £50* per week for the duration of the course.

6. The tuition fee for the English Language Foundation Course will be £4300 for session 2005/06. Tuition fees are determined annually. The accommodation bursary is not available for students following this programme.
7. The British Council recommends that students set aside between £6000 and £6500 for a year of study in the UK. As Scotland, and in particular the west of Scotland, has a lower cost of living than major cities in England, a more accurate calculation of living expenses is closer to £5000 to £5500.
